it depends when to use HEAT OR ICE...you use ice if you have a new injury and feel that there might be swelling ,usually on the first 24 hours of the injury... you use heat to bring blood to the area and begin the healing process....this I've been doing for 28 years for my sciatica and it works well....since there is controversy on these 2, try using them both by alternating them....this works well!!!
